Introducing our new ultra high field MRI. This scanner is so fast and so non-claustrophobic that we have replaced both our High Field and our Open MRI with this one amazing machine.

Not just "another MR scanner", this scanner represents an entirely new technology and sets a new imaging standard. With twice the magnetic field strength of any other magnet in the county, 204 imaging coils, and 48 recieving channels, the Skyra has diagnostic capabilities never before seen on the Central Coast. Our new scanner is just one of three scanners of its kind in the United States and the only one in California.

MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING (MRI)

An MRI examination uses radio waves and a strong magnetic field rather than x-rays to provide remarkably clear and detailed pictures of internal organs and tissues.

This technique allows our radiologists to diagnose a broad range of conditions in all parts of the body, including cancer, heart and vascular disease, stroke, and joint and musculoskeletal disorders. MRI of the head, for example, is useful in diagnosing tumors of the brain as well as disorders of the eyes and inner ear.

In addition, MRI is unique in that it can create detailed images of blood vessels without the use of contrast material.
